We don’t have a home emergency service, as these are medical situations that require demanding medical care in terms of teamwork, equipment, complementary diagnostic means and sometimes hospitalisation in intensive care. In this way, we collaborate with various Veterinary Medical Care Centres, where we refer our patients in emergency situations.

In the case of emergencies involving exotic animals, Dr Catarina Dias can provide medical assistance at our partner hospitals in order to stabilise the patient.

If your animal has symptoms that require immediate care and you can’t wait for our opening hours, we collaborate with several Veterinary Hospitals, to which we refer our patients in emergency situations. For non-urgent situations, please contact us during our opening hours.

Please contact us on 934 792 528 or by sending an e-mail to geral@vetstoyou.vet with your order. A member of our team will contact you to organise your order and delivery.

Yes, in Portugal we have vaccines developed for various exotic pets, such as rabbits, ferrets, Vietnamese pigs and dwarf goats. Vaccinating these animals is extremely important to prevent the development of serious diseases caused by certain infectious agents, such as the transmission of zoonotic diseases (which are transmitted to us humans).

Yes, exotic pets can also contract various species of internal and external parasites, which can lead to disease or even be transmitted to humans. It is therefore important to carry out deworming on veterinary advice.

Yes, as of 25 October 2019, all ferrets in Portugal must be identified electronically with a microchip within 36 months.

Countless human and animal lives have been saved because of vaccines and they continue to be an important part of disease prevention. Deadly diseases such as parvovirus and distemper have not been eradicated and are still present in Portugal.

We believe that vaccines are important, but they should be administered appropriately and according to the animal’s risk and lifestyle. Some vaccines may not be necessary depending on your pet’s lifestyle. For example, a cat that lives indoors and doesn’t come into contact with other cats may not need to be vaccinated against feline leukaemia. Talk to us about the best vaccination plan for your pet.

The answer depends on your puppy’s age and vaccination history. During the first few months of its life, it is learning essential socialisation skills that will be important in adulthood. However, it is important that your puppy is protected against potentially fatal diseases such as parvovirus, among others. Make sure that any adult dogs they come into contact with are properly vaccinated and wormed in the early days. However, you won’t be able to go out in the open until your vet has told you that the vaccination programme has been completed.

If you consider the cost of prevention versus the cost of treating a disease or condition, you’ll find that treatment is usually much more expensive. By keeping your best friend in good health through preventative care, you’re not only extending their lifespan, you’re also preventing them from being exposed to suffering due to a condition that could have been prevented or treated in time.
